Black Out PTO days - Paid time off should not be approved during the following periods:
The first two weeks of school
The last two weeks of school
Parent/teacher conference days
In-service days
The day before or after a designated school holiday
The primary variable in decision making is maintaining consistent operations in all sectors of TCSD.
Paid time off is not intended to function as vacation leave during these critical school calendar periods
Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis and must receive prior approval from both:
The building/school administrator; and the Superintendent
Exceptions will generally be limited to circumstances involving medical needs, emergencies, or immediate family matters. All leave requests should be submitted to the building administrator at least five (5) days prior to the requested leave date whenever possible.
The primary variable in decision making is maintaining consistent operations in all sectors of TCSD, coupled with the administrator’s ability to provide qualified substitutes, and a review of the circumstance and history of the absence request. All paid time off shall be granted in units of full or half days.
NOTE: On the average, TCSD can place approx. 20 subs district wide. This includes for any absence that requires a sub.
